My BT ones arrived from Amazon today - got them on charge so don't know how they perform yet, but they look great. My kids are dying to have a go with them, especially on holiday! Thanks to OP - I didn't realise I NEEDED a pair of these until I saw this post! You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

I bought 2 pairs of the BT Freeway radios for work some months ago, they have been dropped, kicked and generally abused and still work fine. I often forget to remove mine from my pocket when leaving work and have the kids coming up to me at home next day saying some strange men are talking in our lounge. I have forgotten to turn it off too and the guys at work are being recieved quite clearly 1/2 mile away in my home.
The radio thats built in is a bit weak but we dont use that so it suits us very well. All Dell'd upseveral times over

Very impressed:j0 -
My kids been playing with them (BT Freeways) for a couple of days and we are all very impressed. Not only are they very good as walkie-talkies, but you can also use them as FM radios, and can store up to 10 channels. Only problem is no AM so you can't listen to the Test on Radio 5 Live.
They also come with a pair of ear pieces so you can use them in hands-free mode if you really want to.
Compared to the cheap toy ones you buy the kids for Christmas these are in a totally different league. Well worth getting just to keep your boys amused. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
Been looking for some PMRs and the huge channel range on these, the FM, the ear piece, NiMH batteries (you can get cheap replacement cells and packs from Maplin) swung it.
Amazon site said 2 left in stock...Seth.0 -
Just be aware that special reserve are part of the same firm as freeola who have a history of spamming like mad very email address they get their mits on so don't use an email addy that matters for any registration process.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0

FYI the BT units are not shown in stock on the Amazon site. I tried the link to Amazon for the BT units and the only ones left are £29ish and not from Amazon.
Thanks to the OP and all the others on this thread.Seth.0 -
