Extra virgin olive oil - where's cheapest?

I bought 750 ml of Extra virgin olive oil from Lidl today for £2.49.

Is that the best deal around without buying quantity or could I have done better?

If I did want to buy say 5 litres, where would be best?

Cheapest won't always be the best. Extra virgin isn't really meant for cooking with but more for adding to the food (dressings etc) so best going for a good quality one.

Ah, but we mse's believe you can get cheap AND good.

    So where's best?

Actually, the Lidl stuff tastes OK - you ought to try it

I've resurrected this old thread cos I've found another olive oil at £2.49 for 750ml - DonMario Extra Virgin from Tesco.

If anyone can suggest cheaper/better, I'm all ears.

the Lidl oils are very nice, they usually have two kinds, I use the 'cheap' one for cooking/dressing pizza etc & the more expensive one for salads/flavouring/dipping bread in

Just resurrected this thread cos Extra Virgin Olive Oil is now £2.39 for 750ml at Lidl for their 'Primadonna' brand.

That's the cheapest I can find.
  • I noticed Sainsbury's are selling Bertolli Extra Virgin at half price at the moment - £1.99 - but not sure of the bottle size. Might be worth checking out.

    Continuing my occasional series...

Lidl are still doing their Extra Virgin Olive Oil at£2.39 for 750ml for their 'Primadonna' brand.

But Morrisons now have Filippo Berrio Extra Virgin Olive Oil at £2.00 for 750ml !

That's the cheapest I can find - unless you know different

Also, Frantoio Extra Virgin Olive Oil (750ml) ASDA £2. Although Filippo Bertio Extra Virgin Olive Oil may be better quality.

Just discovered Morrisons offer ends tomorrow 08/11/09.
  • Just got some Albero Antico Extra Virgin Oil (750ml) £2 reduced from £2.38 in ASDA’s. Very handy for me as the bottles are light plastic so easy to carry while riding my bike back home.
