Just about to purchase one of these, as I am sick of paying 114ppl for 60 litres of diesel a week - I am hoping to switch 80% of this to veg oil at about 76p/litre - hopefully :-)

Has anyone else used one of these, also what is the situation with bulk oil, I am plannning to make 60 or 80l purchased from say Tesco online shopping so as to get club card points and i-points and use a cashback credit card etc?

I have checked with the tax people, and the first 2,500 litres are tax free, so I am okay long enough to test it out before I need to think about registering :-)

Just thought some additional information may help:

The conversion will cost just shy of £ 500.00 (mostly DIY fitted)
The anticipated saving will be approx £ 18.00 per week - therefore £ 936.00 per annum (should just stay within the 2,500 limit!)
So payback is 6 months! (in theory)
A pump or filter may fail, but then it is an older car, so it would be poss. that could happen anyway??

I've considered doing this. We are normally car free, but bought an old Astra diesel estate to help with some renovations we are carrying out. Hope to have the car for not more than a year, so not sure what effect it will have on resale. I'm only using about 10 to 15 litres a week. I think you can get vegetable oil for about half of what you have stated, though.

Interested in the idea of cheaper veg oil - any ideas anyone!

I would google veg oil in the Astra, I suspect it could run 50% veg, 50% diesel. But do check first!
