Transferring pensions

My wife has a number of small company pensions from various jobs.

She is not currently paying into a private pension.

Would there be any benefit in amalgamating all the pensions?

Can she do this?

Could she add hers to my company pension?

Any advice much appreciated

  • Your wife can amalgamate all her pensions, but this does not mean she should do so. Combining them does not always mean that at retirement they will be worth more than if they were kept separate. In some cases the charges that apply to company run pension schemes are cheaper than private policies, or the company schemes may have benefit guarantees that would be lost on transfer.

Unfortunately the law does not allow the transfer of your wife’s pension funds into your pension.
