I Want To Give My Microwave To The Needy.

Do you know anywhere preferably in the Bromley area that would appreciate a free Microwave? I don't want to put it on freecycle because someone would just put it on eBay and i could do that myself, but i'd prefer it to go to somewhere like a homeless persons charity or charity that could make use of it.

Have you got an acorns charity shop by you? They accept electrical items, as do larger branches of the British heart foundation.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

Or just ring up ur local YMCA or homeless shelter and see if they can find it a home?? If you wanna find any charities which specifically want particular items then i'd say ring ur local Citizens Advice Bureau and ask them.
Oh but just as point of note - i would avoid calling them "The Needy" when u are trying to find it a home.....they might not appreciate the title!!!!!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Thank you both :beer:0

I wouldn't be quite so convinced about your Freecycle assumption - someone gave me a microwave on there last year, it was very much appreciated, particularly since I didn't have a cooker at the time.
How much can you get for microwaves on eBay? Unless it's a particularly snazzy / brand new one, not a lot - they don't post well and you can get a basic one from Tesco for £35.
But if your local Freecycle really is that corrupt, fair do's

If they're fussy about being called 'needy' by someone trying to help them out then they need to get off their high horses.
You may find it tricky giving directly to a shelter etc as all electrical goods will need to be tested and the cost of this for a microwave vs buying a cheap one may be prohibative if they don't have the equipment/staff to do it themselves.0 -
I gave one to the girls on my local veg stall on the market. They think its great, they can warm food up , and bring their own stews etc to eat at lunchtime.0

Or you could maybe try asking your local Womens Refuge cause they always have people having to start furnishing there home from scratch after fleeing there own home with nothing for whatever reason;)
I regularly donate towels, bedding, tinned foods etc for them to pass on to the women:) Just another suggestion for you;)

Thanks to everyone on here than has helped me through my darkest days!:D0 -
You could try the British Heart Foundation & some of Age concern's shops accept electrical item. I think a few other charity shops take electrical items so its worth asking in your local area, or seaching online.
He's the link for the BFA, they have a telephone number on the website so you could alway ask them

You could keep an eye out on freecycle for someone asking for a microwave, not just offer it yourself.0

Thanks to everyone for your tips. In the end i advertised it for free in the paper shop and an elderly lady phoned and i took it round to her.0
