My DD has asked for a dog shaped/dog themed (eg 101 Dalmations) birthday cake. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or order one? I have a couple of weeks until her party.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've no idea where you could buy one, but I remember my mum making a cat cake when I was little using a plain sponge and some swiss roll cut in half lengthways and then cut to roughly the depth of the cake. The swiss roll halves made the ears and then she iced the whole thing and used sweets and strawberry bootlaces to outline the cats face, it would work just as well for a dog.April Grocery Challenge: £250/£127.530

Tesco definitely do Scooby Doo. I'm sure I've also seen Dougal from the Magic Roundabout, but maybe not recently.0

I don't know where you live but my friend makes/decorates cakes in any shape, she advertises in the local papers. I'm sure there will be someone local to you. The sort of thing you're after would be around £25-£35 For party cakes she needed a weeks notice (did me a cowboy hat one). (It's a great money spinner if you have the knack/time.)0

Hi - waitrose do great cakes http://www.waitrosedeliver.com/wdeliver/servlet/JSPs/shop/shopping_fs.jsp?siteCode=BI Follow link then click on Celebration Cakes at top of page.......then click on Non-personalised cakes - then at nearly the bottom of page should be a dog cake that should be perfect for you....(at bottom of page almost down the page, spotty dog cake!)
U can order online or instore i think....7 days notice required. Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
Many thanks for your replies - I love the Waitrose dog cake, will go and order one!

I was looking for inspiration for a dog cake for my little girl's 2nd birthday as her favourite companion is a Ty stuffed dog; in the end I decided to make one so I baked two chocolate sponge cakes (as for a regular sandwich cake) then cut them to make a dog face shape and iced with caramel 'frosting' with added chocolate for the darker bits. It's the first time I tried anything like that but it was quite easy and I was really pleased with the result - and she was too! So I just had to share it with you in case anyone else is looking for ideas. I would post a photo if I could work out how to - in the meantime if anyone wants to see the final result just ask!0

Asda do the photo cakes, where you take in a photo and they print it onto the icing on the cake, Maybe you could take a photo of 101 dalmations or something similar and get it printed out at asda? Think they are priced around £7 but cannot be 100% certain
Hope you get it sorted.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0
