My friend told me about this lady who makes organic handmade soaps which are lovely. And for the whole month of March, when you purchase 3 you get one for free!!!!!
The soaps are only £2.45 each and when I received mine yesterday i was so pleased. I brought the Green and Blacks Chocolate organic soap and WOW-WEE!!! :T

Hi there.
I've just had a look at the site (its very pretty by the way) and I notice the soaps are not actually handmade by the lady in question. The soaps are made from a base (often bought in) which she adds ingredients to and 'finishes'
Have you thought of trying real handmade soaps? These are made by mixing lye and oils. They are made from scratch by the soapmaker and I think if you like the hand finished ones then you would be pleasantly surprised by the quality of handmade ones.
I'm a soapmaker and I do worry about these bases. Some have sls's and chemical foaming agents in them whereas homemade soaps are completely natural.0 -
Thanks for that link, I like to support local people and have ordered some!0

I have checked on the website and have emailed the lady to ask myself, none of the soaps contain parabens, sls or sles's. Everything is natural and a list of all the ingredients can be find on the web site - http://www.thefarmhousesoapcompany.co.uk/ingredients.phpTotal number of freebies received (starting December 2007) = 31 to date

Thats great news then. Its something that not everyone is aware of. Buying in a base and then adding fragrance/decoration is fine and lots of people 'make' soap this way. I think this is a good way to buy if you want decorative soap as its very easy to colour etc.
The two main types of soap are where a ready made base is bought in, usually as a big block and you take off what you want and then add colour ect. This is called melt and pour and is what the advertised lady does.
The other type is where a soapmaker actually makes the soap from scratch using oils and lye. The soapmaker decides exactly what goes into the bar and calculates lye accordingly. This is called cold process soap.0
