ENDS TUESDAY
From National Express East Coast:
Massive release of additional low-price Advance train fares.

Book between 07 March and 11 March for travel between 14 March and 22 May
Limited availability 20-25 March and 02-05 May. 850,000 additional Standard Advance and 163,000 additional First Advance tickets will be made available under this offer. All fares include 10% online discount and are exclusive to nationalexpresseastcoast.com
They will discount further for railcards. I got a real bargain ticket for Easter Monday using a railcard - it cost £8.25 for a Standard Value Advance ticket, which would have cost me £35.30 if a Standard Open Single was bought.
I've used this site before and got some good deals around Public Holiday dates. They have a facility to search for the cheapest ticket for your journey, which is pretty useful. If you sign up for email alerts they will let you know when they are releasing a batch of cheap tickets such as these.

Sounds good. They never run any of these along the south. Day return from Southampton to London is £53.90 if I have to travel on peak or £33.10 if I can get away with off peak for what, an 80 mile journey!! It's horrendous.
South West Trains the tight b***ers need to lower their prices. Seen some good offers recently with other operators such as First Great Western and now National Express East Coast.0 -
National Express East Coast also sell tickets for trains operated by various other companies - the route that I booked was Oxford to Preston, which uses Cross Country and Virgin Trains.
To get my bargain I had to change the departure station from the nearest to one which required adriving a bit further to the station - but well worth doing so for the difference in rail fare!
If you have a bit of flexibility in your dates/times of travel and can experiment with different routes then you still might be able to grab a bargain. If you could travel from Southampton Parkway it might be cheaper I just entered a random date in March for travel after 8am and it came up with a price of £28 for a Super Off Peak Day return to London.0 -
Sorry - meant to say that the S'oton to London date that I tried was for a Saturday when travel in the morning is not restricted to trains arriving after noon. You can get return travel to London from Parkway or Central for £28. Still pricey, but probably not that far off parking in London for the day!!!0

NB: their site doesn't like the browser OPERA (having all sorts of errors) so save yourself some time and open TDIE (The Dreaded Internet Explorer) instead0

Just bumping this as the offer finishes tomorrow (Tuesday) - still some cheap tickets available!0
