Inheritance Tax !!!!!

in Cutting tax
Hi, new here, so hopefully I've posted in correct spot.
I've got to pay the dreaded Inheritance Tax - how stupid are those people in Government? I can't get Probate until I've paid I.T., can't pay I.T. till I get the money, can't get the money...... blah blah. Anyway, assuming my solicitor and accountant have given me the correct info, I now need to go and get a bank loan to pay the I.T., so probate can be granted so I can get my hands on some assets to sell to pay back the loan! How frustrating is that! Getting a loan isn't proving as easy as I thought (even though the Estate is guaranteed and I can pay it back within a couple of months!).
Has anyone else been in this situation, surely I can't be the only person on this earth who's mum died with more money is assets than cash? It's bad enough grieving for a loved one without these idiots in Office trying to make it even harder, or am I just feeling sorry for myself?
Sorry but any help gratefully received. One bank tried to get me to remortgage my house (and then suggested defaulting on the mortgage payment for a couple of months as I couldn't afford those new repayments, until I can get hold of the assets to pay the mortgage off - duh!) Are there any good banks, companies to use who specialise in this sort of loan?
Thanks
Lucy
