I've been robbed!

I have a citi card with 3k on it, and applied for an Abbey card to get the 0% on balance transfers.... I transfered £1000 from the Citicard. I can't remember requesting it because it took so long for Abbey to process the card application but have verified it was done as they gave me the last 4 digits of my citi card. In short, Abbey have wapped £1000 on the card from Citi and Citi have not deducted it from my balance at their end so I'm £1000 down! Abbey just tell me where they paid the £1000 but Citi who's callcenters can barely grasp english just keep saying it's not come off my statement so Abbey must have taken it from somewhere else. What in gods name can I do??? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Write to Abbey "CUSTOMER COMPLAINT" and ask them to reimburse all costs you may have incurred. If you get no joy write to FSO @ http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

I hope you have kept paper copies to prove you asked for transfer from correct card number?

No paper copies of the transfer request. It's all done online and Abbey have the last 4 digits to hand at top level (i.e. their callcentre staff can see this info) so they will know where the request was made to. Is it deffo Abbey that have to deal with it! I've not kicked off at them yet as I just got the confirmation of where the balance transfer had been taken from and thought it would be as simple as logging into my citi card and seeing it gone there! Thus it is not at complaint stage with Abbey yet. Has anyone got any experience of this issue themselves?

hi neil, i am aware that abbey had probs processing transfers to a new batch of cards before christmas, the first six digits of their bin number( the first 6 digits of the card number) wasn.t on the balance transfer system , therefore they couldnt apply the funds and were having to do this manually. i work for a bank so could find out the bin number for you but not working until tommorrow

    How long ago was this?

The £1000 was applied to the Abbey card on 29th Jan. Nothing off the citi card at all :(

Not sure how you mean? The funds are applied to the Abbey card, but from where? as its not come off the citi card. What would happen if they took it from the wrong place. I know 110% i'll have physically supplied the right citi card number....... Thanks for you help.

I think the OP means it's the other way round - he was transferring £1k from citi to Abbey, and it's debited from the Abbey card but not been knocked off his Citi balance?
