T-shirt into shopping bag!

http://www.marthastewart.com/article/good-thing-t-shirt-bag?lnc=4ef2dc5bfca40110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD

Make a shopping bag out of an old T-shirt, which I think this is a brilliant idea - and it's quick and easy to make! Saves using plastic bags too.

You cut, then sew one seam, so making it didn't take long, but I zig zagged the hem twice to make sure (OH fills our bags FULL so i strengthened the shoulder seams as well).

I used a bright plain coloured shirt, and traced round the bowl lightly with a biro.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Wow! That's a great idea. Thanks for sharing. I have an over locker now and I was looking for some new projects.

With an overlocker you could sew around the 'handles' to give a better finish too.

OH has several holiday souvenir T shirts with place names etc on, (he doesn't like T shirts but MiL still buys them  ) so I can see that I'll have a whole collection of 'holiday' shopping bags soon!

The bag would look good in black/ white stripes... maybe they airbrushed out the "I heart State Pennitentiary" and put "NY" for wider appeal? :D

Have made my first T-Shirt bag! It took longer to thread the $%*^)y overlocker than to make the bag! Will post a pic soon, not as glam as the I heart whatever, but hey-ho. It's only for shopping! I squared off the bottom, so should stand a bit better once it has something in it.

It looks a kind of funny shape, but won't when it has got some stuff in it. Hung it on top of the ironing so you can see the thing properly.

Need to ask MIL to keep her eyes open... She does a shift or two per week at the Help the Aged shop.
