Council tax: our band changed, but I doubt the refund is correct

in Cutting tax
Hi there,
I live with my dad and a while back I was trying to figure out the outgoings on our house. I found out that our council tax band had gone down from a C to a B in June 07, due to somebody in the area taking it to the courts. The Valuation Office said the council were dealing with it.
So late last year my dad got a rebate from the council of £800, which he was told was his "allocation". He also didn't get charged for the next month's tax, although whether that's still going on I don't know as my dad, in his own words, isn't money minded, my mum used to take care of all that stuff. However given the current difference between band C and band B, the figure should have been £1910.25. Now I know that over the past 14 years the difference between band B and band C wouldn't be so great, but surely rocketing inflation should be taken into account? And what about potential interest, like the 8% you calculate when you reclaim bank charges?
Any advice greatfully received!

Phone them up and ask for a break down of each year. Council Tax is a daily charge so they will be able to work it out from the date of change until 31st March 2008. However where I work £800.00 for 1 band change over a few months sounds too much.
