Council Tax - First reply

Okay so I appealed because the majority of my neighbours are in the 'C' band and we're in the 'D' band... and we ticked the top two boxes...
The letter rec'd said...
'Based on the information you have given me, I believe your proposal has not been validly made....
My reason for considering that your proposal has been invalidly made is that you have submitted your appeal outside the statutory time limits as set by law.'
So I got an 'invalidity note'...
It went on to advise that I should write "Appeal against notice of invalid proposal" at the top of the letter.
The question is... what should I actually write in my reply (other than the above at the top of the letter)? (I can't see any advice on this site)
TIA

I got the same reply when I appealed. I did nothing accepting that I was unlikely to win my appeal. 4 weeks later I had a letter to say that the band had been reduced.
Neighbours then appealed based on our success - thay had the same initial letter. Then they heard nothing & had to contact the VO again. Finally they got a letter confirming the band reduction.
It appears there is no definite answer - contact them again if you are confident of your case.
We fall under the Wolverhampton Valuation Office & can honestly say that they are not the best bananas in the bunch.0 -
Although appreciated... the response from TAXCOLLECTOR makes me sceptical... simply by the alias...
Does anyone else have any ideas on what next steps should be taken before my time runs out?
TIA
