Information to be provided by self-emp for remortgage

We are currently in the process of applying for a remortgage (5 year fixed). My husband is a self-employed barrister. (Most barristers are). We are applying for a regular mortgage, i.e. not a self cert.

In addition to 3 months' business bank accounts (which we can provide no problem) we have been asked to provide:

most recent 2 years audited accounts OR

most recent 2 years self-emp IR tax return AND IR acceptance form.

The problem we have is that his most recent accounts are 2006 and 2005. (The 2007 accounts will only be prepared in time for the 2008 tax return by the accountant). Although they're prpeared by an independent chartered accountant they're also not "audited". He can obviously provide his tax returns BUT has not yet received an acceptance form yet from HMRC for 2007.

Is this likely to be an issue? Is there anything else we can do to help or should we just send what we have for now with an explanation and wait for them to revert? We didn't have a problem 5 years ago but we had a broker liaising with the underewriters last time. (We're going direct this time). I did phone thew mortgage co this afternoon bu the customer service operative I spoke to didn't really seem to understand what I was saying.

(By way of background, my husband has been trading for 10 years- has full records for that period- and has an excellent credit history.)

Many thanks for any thoughts.
