help needed Northern Rock out.. first direct??

i want to remortgage from my current lender Northern Rock, i did see on here the offset mortgage from first direct fixed for 5 years at 4.99% which i applied for, i had reserved this deal but not paid the £299 booking fee as i was never asked for it. I was told by the advisor at the time that the deal had been reserved for me and when the application pack came to fill it in and send back then i would recieve a call back from them. There was no time limit mentioned at all. Today they have called me back to tell me that they have all my info bank statements, payslips and p60 but unfortunately the 4.99% deal had finished. I was gobsmacked as he also said that there was a 6day reservation on this deal. I am 100% sure that this timescale was not mentioned to me at all. They are investigating this matter and i can proceed if the advisor did tell me wrong because the calls are recorded. Anyhow i am after the current best deals that are out there, fixed rate preferably. I have searched the forum but cant see this weeks best deals.

thanks for any help

Just had a call back from first direct and basically told that even if they had mis informed me that they still could not offer me the 4.99% deal as the funds have run out now, the best they can offer me is 5.25% fixed for 2 years with no set up fee just a £99 valuation. Does this seem ok?

ask about there 5 year deal and costs ( fees ) and complain to the MD of first direct. if you take out the latest deal they may transfer you to the cheaper rate if you complain to the FSA
    Give it a try
think long term can you clear the mortgage in 2 years ? ( remortgage costs again ) there offset mortgages are still very good GOOD LUCK

will try the MD route i think if i can get the details who to contact, so instead of jumping in on the 2 year fixed rate do you think i should take my time and see what i can get out of them. The girl on the phone did say that she will investigate what was said at my request, so i could always play on that.
