totally being messed around now - Help!!!

This is a very long winded situation: i will try to give you the basics:
I have applied for a mortgage with my partner.
We both had new jobs and pay rises within our current job roles.... so could afford a mortgage.
Mortgage Company gave us the green light and gave us agreement in principal.
It comes to the final details the survey has been done solicitor has completed some stuff on their behalf etc and they have written to my company for a reference, they have had 3 now and still questioning the details.
Its now into the 4th week and it doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel.
We have gone with a mortgage broker and they are chasing for us, but it seems we are forever calling them, chasing them, running around like blue a**r fly’s. And I still am no further.
I just have the impression they do not want to give us this mortgage and are finding anyway to turn around and say no!
I’ve never been so stressed out
Why are they messing us around so much, we have provided everything they have wanted and more, it just seems they have a major problem with my work and salary details.
(On a fixed term secondment with a guaranteed payment monthly – all of which had been advised to them)

This will be, I suspect, your problem. You are not fully employed as a perm employee.

Whilst in real life it makes no difference as any employed person can be made redundant or sacked at any time, for some reason mortgage companies see it as more of a risk if your contract is fixed rather than open ended.

By law, if you are fixed term for 2+ years, your contract becomes permanent. I am not 100% on this but it is my company's interpretation of that legislation.

I work for a Building Society.

    Hi

I understand your frustration. unfortunately, due to the credit crunch, lenders seem to give everyone the runaround at the moment and then make a decision not based on their criteria but what is happening in the market place at that precise time.
