Coin sorter broken no receipt

Went back to Argos yesterday to return a coin sorter as it wasn't working , only bought it 6 weeks ago. We can't find the receipt and paid by cash. The assistant said that they wouldn't replace it as the item is not exclusive to them, and we could have bought it from somewhere else. I don't want my money back, I just want another one. Does anyone know where I stand, Thanks.

So sorry to irritate you, I thought it said Argos Board, and my thread was about Argos, please advise me what thread it should have been on and I will remember not to commit such a horrendous crime in future;)Sid_Harper wrote: »Why in Grabbit?:rolleyes:0 -

just tell them exactly when you purchased the item ( ie lunchtime 2nd feb) and they can look it up on thier sales history thus providing POP an you can get your exchange;)

Just to support this, you need to go to the store you purchased it from and give them the EXACT date and a good estimate of what time you purchased the item.
Unfortunately for you, the customer service advisor who served you is correct, Argos needs to identify it was bought from them and that you haven't bought it from somewhere else.
Do you have ANY proof of purchase at all? The box with the catalogue number???[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]
God put me on Earth to acomplish a certain number of things.

I hope no-one suggests you buy a new one then put the old one in the new box and take it back with the receipt and get a refund.
That would be dishonest.
But given you did genuinely buy it at Argos and it is genuinely broken I think Karma would give you an easy ride on that one.
Cheers
