Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew whether the Halifax 5.99% tracker is a good deal?
We have just been advised it by our broker.
We are buying at 130k with 10% deposit, and have combined income of 50k with no dependents/no debt (apart from student loan which I don't have to start paying back for a year and then is a fixed 6% of salary)
It has £999 fees.
Any advice appreciated as I am a bit clueless.
Thanks

Hi Addy - you can get a better deal with Halifax than that one.
I posted not long ago about my problems with my broker, and Halifax.
My broker could not offer me the rate that I had seen on Halifax's website. The broker was insisting they could get me all of Halifax's deals. However, they couldn't!
They are offering some good 3 year trackers. I am taking one myself. They are offering a tracker at 0.17 above base rate, current rate is 5.42% on a 90% LTV with a £999 fee http://www.halifax.co.uk/mortgages/3yeartracker.asp
Id go directly to Halifax to get the better deal. Or ask your broker can they get you that deal. My experience was no, they couldn't get it for me.
I'd be quick though, those rates have been around a little while, and I think they will be pulled soon. Get an application in ASAP.
Good luck
