Asda Home shopping massive over charge

I am in such a foul mood at the moment. I do a big food shop when my wages go in to last the month. I had my Asda shopping delivered on 27th Feb 08. Not only had I got terrible substitutions for about 10-15 items, i.e. Organic chick peas swapped for Asda Peas (not going to make hummus now),
A Vileda mop swapped for a thingy that cleans your bath,
Fresh Tyme for Rosemary
Fresh Oregano for Dill
Tassimo tea swapped for coffee
A corn fed organic chicken exchanged for an Asda one! (one of the better substitutions)
Steak and Kidney meat swapped for a Steak and Kidney pie
I have to say some substitutions were refunded by the driver and those not found untill I put the stuff away was refunded after a phone call.
Oh, and their bleach leaked all over my sofa and the chicken, this happened with Tesco once, but they have since started double bagging bleach.... still waiting for a call from the manager about that!
The list goes on.
Anyway, I phoned them and queried the somewhat strange substitutions and happened to look at the last page, and noticed that the 'totals' page wasn't mine and instead of totaling at £125 odd it was listed as £182 odd. I asked if I would be charged the £182 and was assured not.
You know what happened don't you.... I checked my account online and was charged the higher ammount. I rang on the 3rd March and I was told
"I will have to ring the store to see if I can refund you". I told her, "No, you *will* refund me".
To cut a long story short, I still have no refund and I have been told that it can take up to 10 days. My question is why are they earning interest on my hard earned cash, which, by the way I need to live on for the rest of the month.
So Asda, You don't save people money, you leave them broke, with bank charges, bounced 'DD's' and no cash to live on.
Thanks

Theres a similar thread around here somewhere i responded to before with our issues of Asda home delivery not being all it could be.
We too have had bad substitutions, stuff simply not turning up (although being charged for) and yes the refund of 10 days later (nice way for them to earn interest).
We use tesco again now as although they are far from brilliant either, do seem a little more customer orientated.A male chef of 4. My restaurant is always full and i don't need to tout for business.
OK OK I'm a house husband but it did sound better my way :beer:0 -
It always amazes me how money goes out your account straight away, yet when it comes to going the other way it takes so long.
I suppose i shouldnt be surprised really, its just a blatant way of earning interest.0 -
Hi Sunitab, thats terrible of Asda. I am getting of the mind lately to stop going there, the more I read the the more they are annoying me! I used to be their No!1 fan, but I am sick of their attitude towards the customer. There are no loyalty schemes in place, certain staff are getting stroppy, no discount codes available, and now all the things you have discussed...
I dont know where I could shop cos I cant abide Tescos, cant afford the others... And I'm not a fan of the cheaper shops unless its for a bargain..
I hope you get this sorted soon0 -
I used to use Tesco, but found them to be very expensive, I save about £40 a month now. I certainly don't buy supermarket fruit and veg. I have signed up to an organic box sceme. I get a tonn of fruit and veg every week for £17 it lasts all week and longer and more importantly it is fresh.
I have decided I might just print off my bank statement and my e receipt, go into Asda and leave with goods totalling the ammount they owe me and tell them I will bring the stuff back, but it may take up to 10 days.0 -
LOL good idea. But as keith99 said, its never a 2 way street this
They can do what they like it seems, however we must pay for it upfront and apply for refunds after. Double standards rule in the retail world i'm afraid

Last time i used Asda.........i received a phone call THE DAY BEFORE, saying the debit card i'd supplied was not working....had i got an alternative!!?
GGRRRR.......
Turns out they were trying to take payment 24 hours early!.....(i didnt have sufficent funds in my account, but i would by midnight ON THE DAY of delivery).
The woman accepted this and said they'd try again tomorrow!
Anyway the shopping arrives as scheduled........but the bill is 10 pounds less than online....(35 pounds instead of 45), because a bottle of wine was not in stock, and was not substituted......... BUT when i go online i see they've taken the 45 pounds out of my bank!!!!
It took 3 days before i got the tenner refunded!.
So to sum up, not only do Asda take your money early......they take it before the 'instore shopper' has even done it.....Thus you get charged the total online price regardless of wether the items are actually in stock or delivered to you!! :mad:0
