Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help me please?
I took out a credit agreement that offered me to pay in a years time free interest with World of Leather furniture store that use Creation Financial Services. The special offer period of 0% was to pay off the balance on 18th February. I could not pay off before the date or I would incur a £300 early settlement fee. So had to wait for the day, when the day came, I got home from work and rang to pay off the balance only to hear "our call centre is closed our working hours are from 9am to 5pm but alternatively you can pay online" so I went onto the website to pay, and after filling my details and pressing submit payment I got a notice saying payments can only be accepted when our offices are open 9-5 (contradicting the answer message!!) So when I called the NEXT DAY to pay I was informed that as I missed my special offer date I would have to pay an extra amount of £800!!  I wouldnt have paid this but the lady on the phone scared me by saying if I didn’t pay it would only keep on going up 29% interest for each month
so I reluctantly paid, just before paying on credit card I was told of an extra charge of £14 would be added for credit card transaction, so had to use my debit card at the cost of £1 charge.
Iam so upset and angry with this company for doing this, anyone know if there is a chance of me getting the £800 back??? any help would be much appreciated
I must also mention that my grandfather received a check for £1000 through his Alders account card (also managed by Creation) saying cash this in and spend it on what ever you like. Only after I read through 3 pages of small print found one sentence "when cashing you will be charged 24% interest) my grand father is 75 and this is a blatant attack on vulnerable people!!
Surely this company shouldnt be getting away with these scams.....
THANKS.
Roxy

write to world of leather explaining the situation and saying that reluctantly you wouldn't be using their stores again unless they can help you.
complain to creation finance in writing
then complain to the financial services ombudsman
sue in the small claims court
if offers are too good to be true and/or hedged around with complicated conditions just dont accept them.
If in doubt then dont touch it.0 -
Thanks alot,
I wrote to creation on the same week everything happened and still have heard nothing from them.
I will try what you said tho....and will keep you informed of the progress.0 -
Last week I checked my bank account to ensure that the 119.99 that I expected to come out for the bike I bought at JJB back in August had come out. I saw instead that 5.58 had be taken out?!?!
I could not work out why, the person in store told me that I would recieve an option to pay in full at the end of the contract or to switch to paying off over 18 months. Never recieved. If I did not do this the FULL ammount would be taken out of my bank (details provided in store).
I typed Creation CF into Google, and got a phone number that when I called just rang and rang for 15 minutes. So to ensure they would contact me I cancelled my DD, and as if by magic within two days a letter appeared on my door mat saying I needed to phone a different number or be potentially charged by my bank and them if I did not instantly reinstate it.
I phone (before 9AM) and get a message saying "...we are not open, try the website for payments.
This morning I checked the balance on the website and I now owe 147.47 and if I dont pay before 13 April I will owe over 190.00!!
I phoned them back at 9:44 today and got what must be the most friendly costumer service person I have ever met, he was practically yelling at me within a minute. Also I could not finish a sentence, he kept saying you owe other wise we will charge you another 28.9%.
I have now paid 147.47, for what I consider to be a false contract, PLUS an extra £1 for the privalige of paying them their (correction MY) money on my Debit Card. If I wanted to pay with a Credit Card it would cost 3% of the remaining value.
As far as I am concerened I owed them 119.99 les the 5.58 they took from me, leaving 114.41. I am now going to write to them explaining that I expect my £30 back (plus interest at 30% - if you can't beat them...). But I don't expect to hear back. They will just change theie name again. They now trade under the name LASER, a French Company.
I will too wite to JJB informing them about the situation. We all need to do this to ensure that companies can NOT opperate like this.0 -

Well done, but was there a reason you felt it necessary to post the same thing on on a year old and a two year old post?0
