Freecycle

Not sure if this is the right place to put this. Do move if not!

Stumbled across the Freecycle website:

http://freecycle.org/

Freecycle Network is open to all who want to recycle that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Charities and other not-for-profit groups are welcome to participate too!

You can find UK freecycle sites by going to the links on the left hand side of the pager, clicking on 'international' and then finding UK (and the going to your home town if it is there). I've signed up to the Glasgow one and already made contact with someone who has exactly what I am looking for!

weegie.

Hi Weegie (loving the name... my Mum claims to be a "Wendy"...)

I'm in the Glasgow freecycle group as well, it's very active (and I'll be posting up stuff to clear from my cellar if the previous owner doesn't come and remove it very very soon...). It's such a good idea - good MS, good for the environment :D , can't lose really!
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...

I have used this service too and have just collected a couple of garden chairs from someone who lo longer needed them.

I'm another one in the Glasgow group.

One of the things I like about it is that you can get stuff freecycled that charity shops won't take e.g. electrical items.

    Thanks greenlogo.

I figured some might have heard of it already - but hope those who haven't find it of some use.

    Thanks for this weegie.

I saw squeaky mention this on another thread, and found it just last night.

I wonder how many MSE'rs are involved - already a few of us in the Glasgow one! (me too)

I love the concept and can't wait to find out whether or not I am lucky enough to get something I have emailed about.

Hoping I can help others out too...

I've already told all my family about it today.:T
If it was easy, everyone would do it!

I am a member of the Edinburgh group and have been amazed at the stuff that is offered on Freecycle.

When I went on holiday I had to go on digest for the emails or my inbox would have been stuffed :D

Pile of bits and pieces in my hall just ready to be listed ;)

Got rid of an old telly and an odd lamp thing this weekend- freeing up a load of space in the hall. Earned me some much needed brownie points with the wife:eek:
