Take your child to the library on thursday 6th March, borrow a book in their name, and they will be entitled to a free £5 book voucher. This is to celebrate World Book Day 2008, and is nationwide.
:T
Wasn't sure where to post this but as it's one day only I think it deserves to be in the Grabbit forum.

Not sure about the accuracy of this - certainly not happening in our local libraries (I'm a children's librarian!!).
There are, however, many £1 world book day tokens which will be given out at library rhyme times and by nursery and preschool groups. These entitle you to £1 off any children's book or you can get one of the World book day £1 books free (paddington and princess poppy this year) which are widely available in bookshops and supermarkets0 -
I did ask the librarian this morning, I was in our County Library, and she told me it was happening all over the country so although it might not be in every library it could be somewhere near you.0

I work in a library in London and with 2 days to go I've not heard of this either. Mind you it wouldn't be the first time something has been advertised as " you'll find it in your local library" and we've never heard of it lol.0 -

What ID do you need to show to open a childrens account with a library, please?

Noooooooooooooooooo, our local library is shut on Thursdays!!!!! How typical lol
All the children usually get automatically given a £1 voucher each from school on World Book day which they bring home in their bookbags. Never heard of a £5 voucher though..........0 -

I opened my daughter's library account with my existing library card when she was 12 weeks old. I understand my library do this for all under fives, so perhaps yours does too?0
