Hello there.
TBH I have spent the last 2 years toying with the idea of BR and trying to fight it. After being made a single Mum to , I decided enough really was enough and did the deed a few weeks ago.
Regarding your car, it depends also on value. If its a valueless thing they are unlikely to take it away as you will need it for work if you are working when you declare BR or soon after. But different OR's see the values in a different way (!) so TBH it will really depend on the OR and on the day.
Does your ex have a reciept that he paid for his car? And again the value? Explain everything to the OR when you need to and be totally honest about everything. They do understand that life is not clear cut and we do things for simplicity (actually, I did the same with my EX (my car, but he used it etc) and have not yet heard about the car - but I do not work and have accepted that they may well take it from me)
Whatever you decide, things do work out for the best.0
