I was just wondering....

Hello

im 20 now and i have been working since i was 16, and i was just been looking at my pay slips recently, and the tax code on my slips is 522L i had a look online and saw that this is the emergancy tax code? If so im unsure why im on it, and does anyone know if this is a good thing or bad thing?

if anyone knows as im really unsure :confused:

    522L is your correct tax code - if you have been with the same employer since before April 2007 then this tax code will have been used properly and you will have paid the correct amount of tax.
    I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
  • As others have said this is not an emergency tax code. If it was it would have Wk1 or Mnth1 after the code which stands for Week 1 or Month 1. The emergency tax code just means that your tax free allowance is not cummulative.
