Boys Easter Hat!?!

  • We had this problem last year. My son really wasn't happy about having to wear a hat and I really am not that great at making stuff but while browsing in Tesco we found what they called an Easter Egg tree kit. It contained card eggs and 'branches' in a pot.

We glued the pot to a baseball cap. It wasn't girly and was certainly different. I think the tree was about £4
  • My son won with one of our creations a number of years ago.

We covered a balloon in papier mache, burst the balloon when dry, trimmed the bottom to fit his head, covered the bottom 3/4 in Creme Egg papers (took loads, how awful having to eat them all!!!), cut the top off as if it was "broken", painted the remainder chocolate brown, then filled the open top by gluing in white kitchen roll and orange tissue paper. It looked just like a massive Creme Egg! Fantastic! My son loved helping to make it - easy for a four-year old to stick paper and to do painting - so it was a real joint effort. First prize was his, without hesitation! (and he didn't mind wearing it!).

To top it all, my neighbour borrowed it for a laugh at her line dancing club and won a prize there too!!!

    Good luck!!
