HELP - My Mum's Computer!

I installed a new desk in my Mum's house and had to unplug her computer to do this. when she went back onto her computer it will not boot up. The screen goes blue and there is a message saying if this is the first time this has happened go into safe mode. It then gives a choice of last good save, safe mode or dos - whatever you try it just doesn't work. We just get a scroll of messages which go past too quickly to read. All I can say is it doesn't work. By the way I did nothing to it other than unplug it and plug it back in-honest!! I have told her I will sort it-but how?
Any ideas please.

It could be an internal connector has come loose. Take the side panel off and check all the cards and cables are in correctly.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I did take the side off but all connections seem to be in order. Are there any in particular that you think may be loose or is it a general check?
Thanks0 -
Depends what the BSOD (blue screen of death) says....
Is the hard drive making and unusual noises?Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I have a noise problem on my pc. It's old but grinds and rumbles and my gran kids say it's talking to you Nanny!
I can't always close it as it says illegal operation etc
Then have to close it by the power button. Is my pc likely to peg out soon?0 -
Load up last config that worked, its just loading the drivers for safe mode and thats what you see flying past on the screen.
Just make sure you have plugged the mouse into the right port and not in the keyboard one.I'm not poor i'm just skint0 -

Could be a fan hitting something or one it's way out. Best way is to open it up and have a look. If nothing obvious switch it on and try and work out where the noise is coming from.
Which OS are you using?
Could you also post any replies in a separate thread - stops people getting confused.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

No noise from the hard drive. In fact at one point I thought the hard drive may not be working but then I thought that may result in a blank screen.
Opened up in BIOS and it had info for the primary drive (IDE from memory that's mine not the computers). This is over my head though.0 -
Windows may have committed suicide, what version was it running (and please don't say ME):j The £2 CSC = £48 in carton£100 banked Mar 06V-Free : 4 weeks0

I think it was XP but we didn't get a disk with it. Am slightly happy that I didn't say ME but am still scared!0

If it won't let you in in safe mode then I think you really need a Windows CD to boot off. Someone else may know better though:j The £2 CSC = £48 in carton£100 banked Mar 06V-Free : 4 weeks0
