What trainers should I buy?

Hi all, I am looking to buy a new pair of trainers mainly for an aerobics class but could possibly take up jogging, With so many styles about I have no idea which ones are appropriate for this.
At the moment I have flat thin soled trainers that are pretty rubbish but I am not sure what is important for this type of fitness.

Can anyone help me out (oh don't wanna spend a fortune either)

Thanks dragon.

It sounds like you need a pair of cross trainers which have a running toe and an aerobic mid sole (extra width for support). But if I were you I would go to a proper sports shop and they will tell you what sort of trainers to get. I over pronate when I run so I need a non standard shoe which a trained person will advise on. You only get what you pay for in exercise trainers. A good trainer will help prevent injuries.
    Sorry its a bit technical!!

So after asking a proff at the local sports shop, He has given me an idea of what I need to be looking for but they were all VERY expensive, I understand that you usually get what you pay for but I am sure there are some stores or online shops that must be doing good offers on trainers like Nike air or Shoks,
    Any help would be appreciated.

I would second Fifth ave. There is no point in buying cheap trainers - you will damage you feet, ankles and back.
Please go to a proper running shop where they have dedicated staff, plus a video-cam tread mill to gauge your running style. Even if you don't take up running, they can advise on cross-trainers.
I once bought trainers from a high-street 'sports' shop ( JJB or that sort of place). Complete waste of £50 as I was in agony half an hour into my class. I should have saved that money and put in an extra £30 for real trainers sold by real athletes, not a spotty weekend-work teenager.
Proper trainers will enhance your performance. Cheap trainers will damage you.

PS If you are female, please please get a proper sports bra. Look at http://www.lessbounce.com/why.html for why you need a proper bra.

Thanks for this info, I was not asking for "cheap trainers" meaning a pair of primark specials, I am looking at something like Nike air max which are £110 however I have looked in my local Nike shop in the outlet center nearby but they didn't have any in my size, All I wondered was does anyone know of a good website or any sales on at the moment that might save me this massive price, Have seen them on Ebay but am always weary.

PS thank for being so thoughtful with the bra info but I wonder if you would be kind enough to help me find somewhere I can buy something to fill it with. I wish mine would bounce but unfortunately I am not blessed in that department, I think it all shifted to my butt

Don't know of any websites, sorry, as I go to a running shop for mine. Have you looked at Runner's World magazine? THey may well have some info on trainers and where to get them.

Bra: even if you have fried eggs you still need a proper sports bra. No matter how small you are the breast fibres are still damaged by all that bouncing up and down. Small and droopy..................oo, bad idea.;)

I have bought from here before and been really pleased. Also try TK Maxx. Do you have any catalogue outlet stores near you as i have often got top brand trainers there.

The need for expensive trainers is a myth, probably to keep the industry of footwear makers in buisness.
The cheap trainers today are the equivalent of expensive trainers from 10 years ago,
Buy what suits you I bought and tried trainers around the £80 mark before finally finding a pair that I liked the best they were called Crane sports and they were from Aldi and cost about 14 quid, they did me alright as I ran the London Marathon in them.

I remember seeing a Television programm a while back about a tribe of runners and they tried all the expensive makes of trainers but they preferred there own brand of running shoes which were basically home made from old tyres and they knocked them up into sandals to run in.http://www.indigenouspeople.net/tarafeat.htm

Try https://www.wiggle.co.uk They do offer the Nike brand, but also feature other brands. I have worn all sorts before from New Balance trainers, Brooks & Asics, but strangely enough never Nike or Reebok as a trainer whilst participating in sports.
