Quicky Pay rise question

Hi Everyone
Just a quick question regarding my pay increase. For the last year I have been on £14250 p/a. I have just been told my salray has went up to £14450.
My estimation is that that is an increase of roughly 1.4% (pitifull I know!). I was wondering what the rate of inflation was and if Im now making less money this year even though I am recieving a higher wage.
Any help would be appreciated
Many thanks!

if you want to ask your boss for a pay rise, write a letter stating your skill base and how you have improved the company! I did that and now my boss and his boss are giving it some serious consideration. If you need a rough idea on what to write, let me know!
