Attractions and Gift Aid

I had a holiday touring the UK this year (mad I know). Each day we visited an attraction. 90% of those attractions allowed you to gift-aid rather than paying an admission fee. In total I gift-aid'ed £224. Are these deductible?

I imagine you mean for higher rate tax purposes. If they are gift aid payments, then they are deductible.

What seems a bit dubious is that admission payments should be gift aidable in the first place - but I deduct my National Trust subscriptions which are gift aided, so I suppose that's the same thing really.

It's getting very common by the look of it.

    Just one example:

Magna and the Bronte parsonage museum also spring to mind as ones that took gift aid that weekend.

Thanks for the hint on that. It's a shame that you have to fill in name and address forms - there should be some automated way of doing it. But that would probably require us to have identity cards.

The problem I see is that their charity number is not on the reciepts and EVERYWHERE I asked they did not do reciepts with it on :(
