Barclaycard

I lost it on the phone today when Barclaycard phoned yet again.

I wasn't in a good mood to start with so she got both barrels from me, it winds me up when they call you and then ask you to give them a security Question answer  anyway as soon as she asked i snapped at her and said how many times do i have to tell you about my BR, she was after a debit card payment of over £400 (same as Friday) she said we dont know about it you being BR, i said that was strange as Friday i gave the person who called me all the details, then she said my OR must contact them, which i said they had, she kept saying they hadnt, then i said i offered the person on friday my OR details, she then said they dont contact the OR, i have to tell the OR to contact them as its my account, she was almost saying i was lieing to her about being OR so i had a real go at her and she said i'm not going to get into an argument and she put the phone down.

How come they dont just go on the insolvency register then they can see all the details for themselves.

And how come Capital One Visa know about it and have told me they will deal with the OR direct and got a Letter from Abbey yesterday saying the same even though i have never used my Abbey account? Guess i will have to email/call my OR office to contact Barclaycard.

I was trying to workout how much Barclaycard and my other card companies have really lost with me going BR but i reckon its virtualy nothing when i add up all the interest i have paid them over the past 17 years and all the transaction charges they have recouped from the retailers i have used, the ones that have lost is the loan companies as my interest over the periods would only be £1500 or so on £5k loans.
Life is like a game of Snakes & Ladders, i almost made it to the top but now i'm at the bottom again and its a very long ladder to the top. I had it all and now its gone

Sounds like typical Barclaycard/Mercers to me.

I'm sure they have checked your bankruptcy, but some creditors (or staff) will still still try to intimidate payments out of you.

I actually had this problem with HSBC. They kept calling and asking for payment and I kept telling them that I was BR. Eventually I asked to speak to their insolvency team, and when I was put through the woman did a search on the insolvency register and updated my details immediately. i think sometimes with these large corporations its a question of one hand not knowing what the other is doing.

  • I can understand you being so angry! The way I dealt with these types of calls was to refuse to answer the security question and simply stated that if the call as regarding I debt I am now bankrupt quoted my number and said that I was not able to discuss financial matters with them. They soon got bored.

I hope they get the message soon and leave you in peace

  • Emailed my OR's clerk today and he said he has now contacted Barclaycard and RBS today and that he had already contacted Natwest, Halifax (zero balance joint account) and Abbey (never used the account anyway), he also said it normally takes upto 8 weeks before the OR contacts your creditors as they wait to do it with the creditors report.

Cant be arsed to change my phone number as luckily its only Barclaycard that has my number and Natwest but not heard from them, will have to see how annoying my OH's creditors get before her IVA is up and running.
