remortgage after split from ex-advice

Hello
I am about to remortgage the house after me and the ex split 7 months ago. Am sorting the mortgage out with London and Country, i have 11k in savings and the ex wants 20k to buy him out. Is it best to add the 9k to the mortgage amount when remortgaging or get a loan or 0% credit card-can i do this? Ex doesnt want the £ till September when he can get his own mortgage-so what is the best way i would benefit from having this £ till then (offset?)
Thanks, any advice would be muchly appreacited :)
Louise

There are pros and cons of each

Credit cards - £9k balance is quite high for a new card (in todays world) and you will need to repay it over a short period of time. Also will it not mean a credit card cheque, which incurrs fees from day 1?

Mortgage - You are paying interest, possibly over a long time. Depending on your circumstances, it's not much to add to a mortgage and the repayments are much less but you will pay more over the longer term.
