Do i buy from shop or online?

I need to buy a range cooker and a dishwasher but do i buy it online or do i go to the store and see if they can give me a better price?

The cooker i want is £899.99
And a dishwasher at £169.95

Total £1,069.94 free delivery
minus discount of £100 if i buy before Tuesday online

Total £969.94 - £33.94 if i buy through quidco (3.5%)

Grand total £936.00

so do i just go for this or do you think if i go in store i could get it any cheaper?

TIA

BTW the shop is currys i have one local to me too.

If its a branded name I always check out the product in the shops then get the cheapest price I can, and its always via the internet. The guarantee is usually a manufactures one so it doesn't matter where you source it from.

As an aside I hardly ever find Currys to be the cheapest place, are you sure you have searched enough?:)
  • yes i do always search around i can find the cooker a lots cheaper £759.00 from www.jualdomestics.co.uk but i had not heard of them before so it worried me a bit as its a lot of money i am paying out and i dont want any problems. but the dish washer is a slimline in sliver and the cheapest where ever i go seems to be the £169 though there is another currys discount it would only another £7.50 so if i bought the dishwasher from currys with quidco and discount wit would total £156.77 + £759 = £915.77 so i can not see that currys will really give it to me for just over £900 in store for the 2 appliances.

no there is delivery ontop for cooker so another £19 total £934.77

You would normally be able to save a bit if you buy online but as Angelraesunshine says be careful if you are handing out a lot of money to a company you have not heard of before.

It could be worth it to buy from Curry's for the peace of mind.

If you use a credit card you are pretty well protected against on line fraud, additionally you are protected by the distance selling regulations. For white goods and appliances there are a lot of companies that have a relationship with the manufacturer, they take and administer the order which is then dispatched straight from the manufacture, (that is certainly what happened with our rangemaster and all the after sales is direct with rangemaster). So the risk is minimal.

If you are unsure about one company then many on line companies offer a pricematch, just use a company that you are happy with and ask if they will match an advertised price.
In my view, as long as you are sensible in your approach, on line shopping is safe, convenient and usually cheaper than the high street.
    Good hunting
