Question Experian Credit Report
Nevermore
I just received my Experian credit report after having been discharged a couple of months ago.
Is it normal that the bankcruptcy is actually never mentioned on the report? ?If I take one example of a credit card it says Default xxx£, Defaulted Date xxx, Balance satisfied, Status History 8, MAX RECOVERY
Is that how it should look like?
If the bankruptcy is never mentioned how would for example a credit check agancy know that I was bankrupt? Or is that clear for them in the wording?

The bankruptcy should be recorded in the "Public Record Information Section".
There is an example Experian credit report here: http://www.experian.co.uk/downloads/consumer/sampleCreditReport2008.pdf
Like this:
Is there an entry like that?
The entries in the "credit accounts" section won't mention the bankruptcy specifically.
There are some examples of how an account that was included in your bankruptcy should be correctly be displayed here:

Hi Fermi,
thanks for the interesting information.
I just checked the whole report very carefully again but there is no mention of the bankruptcy - is that now a good thing or a bad thing??

I think a lot of people here would be very happy for the bankruptcy not to show on there credit report.:p
But it should be on there, which means something is wrong somewhere.
Have you checked you Equifax and CallCredit reports as well? I would presume not, but I have to ask.
Have you moved?
Experian probably know about your bankruptcy, since it will appear in the public records. However, it's possible that some slight difference in your name/addresses that you supplied to Experian and the ones in the public records, means that the connection between the two hasn't been made on the report.
Is there any difference between the name/address details on your bankruptcy order/Insolvency register and the ones you gave Experian?
I suppose in some ways it doesn't matter if the bankruptcy order doesn't show, as long as the reason behind it isn't causing any other adverse effects on your file.
Those are my thoughts on it anyway.
What you really need to do is follow the procedure here:
Sticky: Credit Reference File Clean-Up Post Bankruptcy
When you request the three Credit Reference Files make sure that if there have been some slight but significant differences in the ways that names/addresses have been used/recorded in the past, that you include the different formats in the request.
That way you know you will be getting the fullest information back.
EDIT: For the future, the most important things to sort out is the information about your previous accounts. These can potentially hang around on you file longer than the actual bankruptcy if they are not correct.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Fermi, thanks again for your great explanation!
This is really a mystery, name and address details are all correct, we haven't moved, nothign has changed...
I just ordered the Equifax credit report to see what it says there and my husband also just ordered his reports.0 -
Very odd then.

As I said, the priority is to make sure that the information regarding the former debts is correct.
As the sticky explains:
1) The default on each account should be dated as being NO LATER than the date of the bankruptcy order.
2) Each account should be marked in some way to show that it is "settled/satisfied" or "partially settled/satisfied".
3) The date of settlement on each should be NO LATER than the date of discharge.
Point (1) means that the accounts will disappear from your Credit Reference Files at the latest 6 years from the date of the bankruptcy.
Points (2) and (3) helps stop anyone selling the debts on without telling the buyer that it was a debt included in your bankruptcy.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I have the same thing. No mention of BR on Experian. But there is on my Equifax. My advice is to keep quiet and contact Eversheds (Max recovery) to get them to mark any current defaults as satisfied then it will look like you have settled them as opposed to them being settled due to you Bkruptcy.
Good luck.0
