The 40-Year-Old Virgin
See one of the year's funniest comedies first - and for free!
At long last the godlike Steve Carrell, who came very close to stealing Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy out from under the nose of Will Ferrell, is back back back - with a starring vehicle of his very own. He stars as Andy, an electronics store employee, science fiction toy enthusiast and computer game fan who, at the age of 40, has never actually had sex. When his friends at work discover this fact about him, they make it their mission to find him a woman – but all Andy's best efforts to rid himself of his unwanted innocence seem doomed to failure. Until, that is, he meets Trish (Catherine Keener), and finally sees someone he really wants.
The 40 Year Old Virgin sees Carrell on fine-but-filthy-minded form, with able support from fellow Anchorman alumnus Paul Rudd, as well as Elizabeth Banks and Christopher Guest regular Jane Lynch. With some of the raunchiest and funniest setpieces and one-liners of the year, ably overseen by Freaks and Geeks creator, Judd Apatow, this is one of the finest comedies of the year and a welcome addition to the Frat Pack's ever-growing stable of laffers. It's out on August 26 from UIP/Universal at cinemas nationwide, but in association with Vue cinemas we're giving you the chance to see it first and for free on Tuesday August 16, at 6 for 6.30pm.
