Was having a flick through and can't believe I missed a post about the village I come from.
Mitchells of Letham the chicken people are not from Fife they are in a small village called Letham near Forfar , Angus about 15 miles from Dundee.
Also famous for picts and Dunnichen hill gathering.
Can't belive I missed that!
One and only time we get a mention and I miss it.I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0 -
Have to agree that D Fraser next to the main post office in Inverness is great but there is also a wee butchers in Culloden next to the bookies who does great family bags of meat for £10-30.0

Having lived in invernesss for 20 years I would say we are fortunate to have so many good ones , but the three I swear by are not in any order , Duncan Fraser & MacDougall & Hastie ( both town centre ) & A & I Quality butchers ( culloden ) A & Is Steak pie is out of this world and have awards to prove it , and I believe the other 2 butchers have awards for their own specialitys . On the subject of Steak Pie almost every month I have the above at the Castle Restaurant and it is Inverness,s best kept secret .0

Any suggestions for Inverness area or further north?
MacBeth's, located in Forres, East of Inverness, also supply via mail-order:MacBeth's Butchers was bought by Michael & Susan Gibson from Edinvale Farms in 1985 in order to market the livestock from our own farms. These are stocked with Scottish native breeds, Highland, Beef Shorthorn and Aberdeen Angus which form a major part of of the produce sold by Macbeth's.
Since 1985, the business has gradually grown to become a well known and respected supplier of the highest quality meats to both the catering and retail trade as well as running a very successful mail-order option for people to their own homes and offices.
Whilst the business has expanded, we are still a very small company employing only five full time butchers and this enables us to maintain a well monitored and personal service to all our customers whereby it is always possible for a customer to speak to the butcher preparing their order.Dagobert0 -

Hi there - I can highly recommend Geddes Free Range who are based near Cawdor. They have free range chickens and rare breed pork along with locally produced lamb and beef. They do monthly deliveries to your door (Inverness/Black Isle is one of their deliveries - not 100% sure where you are). You will find their email address at www.geddesfreerange.com - website is currently under construction or you can email them at orders@geddesfreerange.com - good luck! ps They also kill all their chickens on site so no stress to them so only miles travelled is to your door.0
