Long term IB. What can JCP do for me?

I've heard about permitted work. Will I get training or have to wait for new deal to qualify?

Thanks

    Hi Dave,

Pathways to Work may be available in your area. Have a look at this bit of the Jobcentre Plus website to find out about it and see whether your area is covered. You wouldn't automatically be included in it as you are not a new claimant of IB nor renewing your claim, but I believe that you can volunteer to go on it in your circumastance.

Another way to approach thinking about going back to work is to phone your local Jobcentre Plus and ask for an appointment to see the Disability Employment Advisor. They will know all about what programmes/organisations etc are available in your area and be able to give you advice or, if appropriate, refer you to an organisation for help and support.

There's information here about Permitted Work to let you see what it's all about, but it's something that a Disability Employment Advisor would know all about and be able to explain to you.

To be honest, the help and resources available to people on IB who wish to consider returning to some form of work can vary from area to area and the quality of help and support can vary from organisation to organisation, so I think you would find it useful to speak to the Disability Employment Advisor and find out just what's going where you are.

    Good luck!

    Hi

IB will need to see verification of the number of hours you are working weekly and the exact amount you are earning as there are a few different areas of permitted work so will require either payslips or a letter from your employer.

If you are on the long term rate of IB , you can start work and if it doesn't work out for you , so long as you are within ( it used to be 52 weeks , think it may now be longer but don't quote me), you can re register sick and go back on the same rate of benefit as what you were on when you signed off the sick. There must be no gaps from coming off benefit and starting work and finishing work and going back on benefit IYSWIM and all relevant paperwork must be completed and returned to JCP.

Ring your local Jobcentre and they can advise you fully on all the up to date rules.

Your IB will remain in payment throughout your 52 week permitted work period so long as your hours and earnings are under the limits.

Once you have completed the 52 week PW period you can go onto the £20.00 earnings only PW for 12 months and then after 12 months return to the under 16 hrs £88.00 ( ? ) pw. Again your IB will still remain in payment./

If you go into Full time empolyment and find that you cannot manage, as long as you return back onto IB withing the 104 week link you will return automatically back onto the LT rate of IB.

A chat with a Disability Advisor at your local office would be beneficial to you as there are other beneficial options available to you should you return to FTW.

    Good Luck anyway

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, Dave. :o The criteria for automatic referral to it state a new claim or a repeat claim. Perhaps someone knows whether a review is counted as a repeat claim?

Your IB claim is not being reviewed.
The medical test called PCA, is being applied to your existing IB claim.

What is being applied again at this time is the PCA. You may have been told this is when the PCA will be 'reviewed' again, meaning applied again.
