New Job on Monday - Any advice?

Hi everyone!
I'm starting a new job on Monday, it's a temp job but will probably turn into a permanent position should it go well.
My problem is that i'm really struggling to hold down a job
I don't know what is wrong witH me..
I have had so many jobs over the years! I always seem to be dissapointed that I don't have more authority or pay (not that i'm a bossy person).. I just crave to be a 'professional' that people look up to and respect I suppose.. Sounds silly when I write it down.
This job is just working in admin at the local hospital, a pretty basic job, but i'm already making my plans to work my way up the ladder and earn more money
how can I stop myself being like this and just get on with the job??
It is seriously ruining my life, and I really would just like to go to work and be happy and not get myself all frustrated and upset over it?
I know I sound pathetic, but I really want to change, and I think holding down a job for more than a year at a time will benefit me in so many ways..
Please help!

It's great that you're so ambitious and picture yourself moving onwards and upwards instead of just stagnating in the same dead-end job for years, going nowhere. However, I think you need to realise that you can't run before you can walk, and you need to be focussed and committed in order to get where you really want to be. Don't get downhearted when you don't get promoted after 6 months - if you quit, you've got no chance whatsoever of moving up onto the next rung of the ladder, so what have you got to lose by carrying on?
The day-to-day reality and routine of any job can be tiresome and frustrating, but try and find ways to make it fun and enjoyable so you don't end up hating every second. Try and build social relationships with your colleagues so you can have a laugh at work and keep each other going. It's one less reason to quit. But of course keep your eye on your overall goal - that promotion and a managerial job!
Think of your admin job as helping you to move up in your career, not preventing you.By replying to this post you are agreeing to my Terms and Conditions which state that I am correct0 -
helloecho, that's a really good post, thank you ! x

I think that is my problem, I get all frustrated and move on before I have had a chance to be promoted etc.. I need to think more long term.
Thanks again

Be afraid - you are starting to sound like SP there
But seriously, I have always approached every job like that, and now I am a Director - don't beat yourself up about it but use it to step up when you can, make sure every day is a learning day [if it isn't at work, then you need to make sure it is by doing something that drives you forward outside of work], and don't take anything for granted.
and keep smiling...:D

Sorry to moan, but I just want to do things right this time.. I'm sick of jumping ship everytime something isn't quite to my satisfaction. I think I am spoilt or something, but i'm 25 this year and really need to grow up and think of the money..

Try to stay positive, be open to change, don't moan, don't get involved in ANY !!!!!ing, be kind, keep your head down and always always ask if theres anything that you can do to help if you're not busy.0

Don't get involved in calling anyone names, and don't comment on anyone else in a negative way - you'll come across as a nice person to be around0

Thanks mumsrgreat.. x
I am a very popular person and very fun to work with as i'm usually really upbeat, hardworking and encouraging..
I think a bit of bullying by a manager years ago when I was 18 has made me resent authority somewhat, and I seem to have a chip on my shoulder and think I can do their job better. I probably could (here I go again)... but I just want to be someone who can get on with my job.. and not stress about the future.. etc etc

I don't think there's anything wrong in moving on from a job that you don't like, obviously if you're a 'serial leaver' that could read badly on the old C.V mind. I don't agree that getting your head down will neccessarily enable you to move through the ranks though. Lots of jobs have no real scope for promotion or success will depend on if your face fits or not-this is usually apparent after say 6-12 months anyway and if you feel that this is the case then I think you're right to look elsewhere. Perhaps you need to be more focused in your job hunting though so that you're applying for jobs that seem to have potential for moving to different roles?
As for thinking you can do someone elses job, tell me about it! Bosses will always have favourites or think the sun shines out of certain employees ear' oles
In my experience this person will usually be the laziest of the lot, its just that they are so incompetant they make a point of sucking up hoping nobody will notice..I think I need a lie down now, been one of those weeks haha ... As ever, you echo my own perspective
G-G congratulations, I'm glad you're onwards and upwards...
I'm the same, running before I can walk all the time, but I consider it an attribute. The fact that you've acknowledged this behaviour can only be a step forward, you're going to be more conscious of it so you'll be able to pre-empt problems your over-ambition might create before they happen.
And perhaps you could pay a visit to the radiography department during your break to get a feel for what goes on down there?!
