when should I move accounts?

Hi all,
I've just paid off all my debts, including overdraft, etc. :j I've been with the Halifax for a few years but for many reasons want to change my account. Now, unfortunately, the last few months I've been totally rubbish and have missed payments, gone over my overdraft limit, etc.

So I'm sure my credit score (which used to be really high) has been shot to pieces.
I've also got £1000 in bank charges that I want to claim if and when we can do that again ...
So, I want to move accounts - probably to the Alliance and Leicester one that Martin recommends, but am worried my credit score would mean I was rejected? Is it best to wait?
Any advice gratefully received!

you really need to check your credit file to see what your score is. then apply if still okI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

My credit file is saying that my score is still quite high, but it doesn't seem to have been updated with my most recent defaults (having never defaulted in my life, I managed to spend on a Barclaycard I thought I'd cancelled, which was registered at an old address, and therefore got passed to a DCA, it's now fully paid off but I know that the defaults will be on file for 3 yrs - grrr!)
Thanks for your response chevalier.LBM 1: May 06 - £16,900  . LBM 2: Jan 08 -£29,500

if your credit file hasnt been updated yet - apply for a new account asap. if you do get rejected then you could apply for a basic bank account. some allow direct debits, standing orders and give a debit card.
