    Unlikely. The pension is likely to be pre A day version which doesnt allow this option.

    This will require it to be transferred to a personal pension or SIPP that does allow this.

    Not really, though Hartford are using the income drawdown system to construct their "variable annuity" plan, which provides a guarantee.

    Watch out for the often very high charges on these plans.

    It's quite easy to provide your own guaranteed income simply by keeping a portion of your pension in cash and paying yourself from that.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
