Advice for clearing relatively small debt!

  • Hi guys, just off the phone to various creditors and DCA! Having a problem getting APR's from them as they are saying they are no longer collecting interest on the accounts as they are "frozen" and being prepared to be passed to DCA.

Alliance & Leicester are showing an outstanding balance but the girl at their side said the account was now closed but gave me their collections dept to investigate further.

BarclayCard(In the hands of HFO Services) - £1033.62
    CapitalOne - £1164.26
    Alliance & Leicester - £243.16
    Abbey - £1402.97
    Setanta Sports - £9.99
    Pipex - £49.98
    Family & Friends - £455

    Total = £4358.98 :(

So who to pay first? Or small amounts to all?

I'm sorry for being impatient but I get paid on Monday and I'm at a loss as to where to start with paying these people but want to sort something before squandering my months wage.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  • Can't really help with the banking stuff I'm afraid, just wanted to say hi. Something did jump out at me though - it's a small amount of debt that is still relatively manageable, have you thought about getting a second job to pay it off quicker? Maybe in a pub or club, which would take care of both some debt and your social life :D

    just a couple of thoughts.....

re. snacks - get multipacks of the kind you like cheap from the supermarket cheap or on bogof etc and keep them in your locker or whatever.

also re. men's clothes - have you tried sportsworld direct either in store or online. OH gets jeans for £6.99 from there. good labels/brands too.

I work long days 10.5 hours but have 3 days off a week. Hoping to do overtime in my only job as opposed to getting an additional one as I'd get paid more and wouldn't be shattered with pub.club hours.

    Thanks though!

Thanks for that, I'm not too bothered about labels, just the look of things so will have a look and see what they have, same goes for the other discount stores. :T

Re clothes, have you looked on ebay? Even if you don't want second hand, there's plenty of past season new items sold in ebay shops for a fraction of their high street prices. :)
    Debt free in 2010
    £6551.35 paid so far.

This WILL be my debt free year! :T

Wouldn't mind that actually, any recommended sellers?
