Aldi was selling the PVR101 units about 2 years ago. They had terrible software/firmware bugs which made them unuseable. There was a lot of discussion on various forums around the time. I took ours back to aldi for a refund and so did lots of other people.
Of course, there may have been a few updates to cure the problems since, and at £7.99 it's worth a punt if you have a spare drive lying around...0 -
I wonder if you didn't bother with a drive it could still be used for freeview? Would be a bargain just for that...0

These are a waste of money. The firmware is full of bugs and there is little chance they will ever be fixed in my opinion.

oh my... deffinately avoid, the dvdforums thread of people who've purchased one doesn't seem to have a single post from anyone who's actually got one working. 90% of the cases are very bent / scratched / broken, 99% can't get a hard drive installed, and even if they did only those with a 1.9 firmware would be relatively trouble free :rolleyes:0
