Redundancy Coming Soon...

Well, we had a company announcement this morning saying that operations are being scaled down where I work... and that our department is at risk, but we will not find out till the 10th of March what will happen to each individual person! Its not looking good.
So what can I expect in terms of redundancy? I have only been at the company for 4 months or so. Is there any legal minimum things the company must do when handing out redundancies eg minimum amount of notice, minimum payout etc?
Anyway, off to look at the job pages! Great.

Unfortunately as you have been employed for less than 2 years, you have no statutory entitlement to redundancy pay.
You will need to check with your company whether there will be any non-statutory payment made. Also check your contract as to what you are entitled to in terms of any pay in lieu of notice.
Sorry to hear your bad news.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0 -
Well, it seems there will be 90 days of a consultation period before anyones job goes anyway, so not too bad. I have plenty of time to find another job.
I already earn a few hundred a month from "work from home" things - websites, mystery shops, etc, so I can survive on that I suppose, until finding a new job. Things are not too bad I guess.0
