Maternity Ending What Shall I Do?

Hi
First of all I would like to appologise incase this has already been posted.
Im coming up to the end of my Maternity Leave and having decided that there is no way im going back to my old job as I was only ever given the jobs no one else was willing to do but I hated it too and they also messed up my wages on a regular basis causing me to have many bank charges, im wondering what to do now.
My husband found out a company he used to work for want him back so he is going to work for them again, the wage is good but we will still need more money to cover our outgoings.
So im looking to something just to raise a little extra cash, working from home would be best but im willing to look in to part time work also.
I know there are a few jobs working from home that involve being on the phone, but im not sure this would be wise what with having a 7 month old but if anyone else has something like this and a baby id love to hear how you get on.
If anyone has any ideas it would be great to hear them.
Thanks

I would say there is no way you can work from home and keep an eye on a baby at the same time!
My daughter is 9 months and has just started to move and get into mischief! For example, this morning I left her for two minutes while I nipped upstairs to the loo, and when I came back she'd tipped the bin over. Also my Mam has visited and she shouted over bits of conversation when she wasn't getting all the attention. You couldn't conduct a professional phone call with all that going on in the background.
Don't bank on doing it when baby is sleeping either. I was all set to do a load of uni work yesterday, but baby is teething and decided not to sleep much at all, so I didn't get much study done.
It would be best if you could find something when husband or another family member is around to babysit, or look into paid childcare which you may get help with from tax credits. I do work part time, but I'm lucky to have my Mam close by and she babysits for free.
I know how you feel needing to juggle everything. Hope you can find a suitable solution. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Hi
Forgive me if i am wrong, but as this company paid you maternity pay because i am sure that if you don't go back and just leave you have to pay all the maternity pay back please look into this before doing anything.
I would go off sick while you look into this at least you are still getting paid.0 -
Massey, Would you please explain the process of going off sick when you're not sick? This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

It depends on the type pf maternity pay the OP got. If it was just statutory SMP or MA, then you don't have to give any of it back.
If she recieved additional maternity pay on top of the statutory allowances, then she does need to check the terms to see if it needs to be paid back if she chooses not to return to work.
I'm not sure how inventing a sickness will help though

This is wrong on so many levels as others have said.

Hi
Im on SMP at the moment and my job was through an agency, the way they work it is they dont save your job for you anyway, I would just have to go back to the agency and say I want another job and they would find me something but I dont have to go back.
You get Maternity Pay with them but you dont get Maternity Leave, took me a while to get round it but it does make sense.0
