Laundrette first-timer!!!

I know it's not real life but I can never understand why everyone on Eastenders uses the laundrette and nobody has a washing machine.
I don't think I could afford to use the laundrette, it seems very expensive to me. When my last washer broke I bought one from a second hand shop for £80, 4 years later it's still going strong so I think it's more than paid for itself when you consider the price of a laundrette. I also like the convenience of having my own washer.

Launderettes - My guilty pleasure!! They're warm, smell great and give me a little time to myself to read.
I live in a flat but dry washing outside in the summer. I do have a clothes horse in the airing cupboard but this proves difficult with bed sheets to dry on the winter. So I now change all the bed linen - 1 double bedding and 1 child's bedding, about 3 bath towels and wash in one day and then take them to the launderette to dry them. It's 50p for 8 minutes. So basically, for half an hour about 2 quid. It all dries perfectly. I have tried using my mum's dryer but it's a smaller drum and takes longer - about an hour to do the above load. Obviously it can be a pain to go out at the end of a working day but i love launderettes.
There's obviously a lot of people who don't own a machine as all the machines are in full use when i go, with service washes waiting to be done.0 -
I hate launderettes.
But I have no choice since there is no room for a washing machine in my rented flat.
The clothes don't come out as clean as when you do it at home.
Waste of time.
My launderette has half of the machines and driers not working. When it's busy you have to wait to use them, especially the drier. People just come to use the drier, so you have to wait longer and sometimes they just walk in and they don't even care you are waiting and they bloody use it before you !
Launderettes are expensive.0
