Hog Roast / BBQ Party

Has anyone ever hired a company to cater for a hog roast or BBQ for a party?

I want one for my 40th, but have no idea on costs and wether they are worth it or not. Did anyone not like 'hog roast' you hired - is it suitable for the kids too. i can cater for salads and the res - just want the main part out of the way so i can enjoy myself!

Any other suggestions for a hassle free garden party ? Any help advice would be appreciated.

  • I can't be much help on costs but my boss did this once in his back garden, he hired the hog roast people, everyone came along and brought a few drinks/salads/puddings, it was a really good day, with no hassle of someone "hogging" the BBQ and thinking they are gordon ramsey whilst actually giving everyone food poisoning :D

We used a company located in Bridgenorth, but we live near Derby - we just paid their travelling expenses. Can't remember the name of them but they were a small family affair and were brilliant - it was so much easier than the BBQ party that we did the year before - It did cost quite a bit (about £400) but that was for about 120 people, but they breed the pigs specially for the 'hog roast'. You can choose to have the head on or off. They supply everything from rolls to sauces & stuffing. We did this two years running and it worked VERY well. I just organised some food for vegetarians.

Their telephone number is 01746 860247

    Hope this helps.

As Jill says it's not the cheapest thing in the world as it's aimed at catering for quite a few people. They often have to set up the day before too if that would be an issue?
