been asked to write a 1 page profile .....

........ not sure what to write!

Hello, I wonder if you can help. I've got an interview with a recruitment agency and they have asked me to write a 1 page profile about myself, and really don't know what to put in it. Any ideas? I thought a C.V. covered that sort of thing!

Thanks in advance. ( I don't know how I am going to cover a whole page)!

  • ok had a bit of a look for you-they dont want a whole page just a snappy profile page 1-see quotes from t'internet below
'Also on page one should be a summary of the skills, knowledge, capabilities and experience she has to offer - this should take the form of a profile. If Natalie knows her preferred career path, the profile should reflect this. The profile is not a wish-list: each skill should be backed up, either in the profile or in an "other experience" section. It should be punchy and dynamic: use of bullets can help'

    What is a profile?

The profile is a very short (4 line) summary that states three main points:
    1. What you are – your job title.
    2. Your experience and what you have done.
    3. What you are now looking for.
It is placed at the top of the front page of your CV below your name.
    For example:

Experienced DEVELOPMENT TEAM LEADER with 10 years experience training and leading development teams to build Object Orientated Internet/Intranet applications using C#.NET, ASP.NET, SQL SERVER. Now seeking next challenging and rewarding position in a customer focused organisation.

Motivation for a well targeted profile

When the agent, or client reads your profile the ideal reaction you want is:
“Wow! This person looks perfect. I’ll carry on reading the rest of the CV and probably invite them for interview.”
A poorly targeted profile might invoke a response of ‘Oh, this person is one of those, and we don’t need one of those’.
Your profile should be adapted to match each application you make to optimise your chances of being selected for interview.

so im thinking short snappy to the point attention grabbing

  • If you have an interview, then I'm guessing that they have already seen your CV.

So, if they have definitely used the phrase "one page profile", I think that is what they want. Pick out the really salient points that explain who you are and what you do - and how you will meet their requirements.
  • what they usually want is a page one profile not a one page profile.??

So a page one profile is just a summary of everything about yourself in a about 4 sentences?
  • Experienced DEVELOPMENT TEAM LEADER with 10 years experience training and leading development teams to build Object Orientated Internet/Intranet applications using C#.NET, ASP.NET, SQL SERVER. Now seeking next challenging and rewarding position in a customer focused organisation.

    something like this?
    guess mine would be:
qulaified and experienced social care trainer and management consultant, specialising in the field of learning disability, with over 10 years experience in operational mangement, social work degree and advanced level training qualifications. adept at devising, delivering and commissioning muti-level training programmes and successful crisis management experience. now seeking to expand horizons within a new role that maximises my current skills andexperience yet affords me room for development
