  • oh ok thanks, i have never had any connections with them at all apart from living there!! thanks tiger feet x
  • I'd do as tiger suggested....I sent for my credit files after bankruptcy discharge and found a financial link with my OH (different surname) I had NEVER applied for the credit card they had me linked to was only in partners name...mistake easily sorted at their end thankfully..but it did have an effect on my partner when trying to apply for a savings acc..no probs now though

so even though you think you might have no financial link SOMETIMES mistakes can happen

  • I also a bit concerned as my LL still has her post sent to the address where I am living and I don't want to effect her credit rating. If the OR tells her that I am going to go BR then I am worried that she won't want me to live here any longer as it may effect her credit rating!? What do you think? HELP! Thanks again everyone,

    SHx
  • It is not the property that is affected but the individual person. Links usually show up if you are both mentioned on the water bill or have a joint loan, that sort of thing. As said get hold of all your credit reference files and check them ver.

  • Thanks TF. I am not on any bills at all. My LL had a problem with previous tenants where they didn't pay bills and had baliffs round and the LL wasn't very happy so she had all bills put in her name and then I pay one fee which covers rent, council tax, water, gas & electric but all these bills are in the LL's name so we're not linked in anyway so it should be ok. Black marking her property is the only reason I can think she'd ask me to leave. Does anyone know if there's an official documnet which shows that only the named person is effected rather than the address? Cheers x

It certainly shouldn't effect you as long as you have no financial links; e.g joint loans/accounts etc.

Fermi is right here, it will not effect you directly unless you have a financial connection.

I have notice that my wifes credit score has gone down by 240 points since I went BR. Having looked at her credit file I have noticed that my name is mentioned quite a few times as being linked finacially. That said, most if not all are were they have asked for spouses name on her application, eventhough it was OH applying for credit. I have written off to get the credit file corrected so hopefully her rating will go up back up to the 900+.

Just before BRs my wife opened a new bank account and for some reason just because I sat next to her when she fill out the application, my name has appeared on her credit file......it was Alliance and Leicester.

  • Hi Dalip.
Experian are offering a free 30 day trial here http://uk.experian.com/ but i don't know if you have to register a CC with them at the begining so they can take the money after the 30 trial has finished.

If not, they all only charge £2 which isn't a lot and you can pay with a postal order.

Its something you'll need to do after your discharged so maybe worth waiting till then to get the reports.

I think if you have an Electron card you can use that. Maybe someone can confirm for me.
