moral dilemma

Ok folks,
I've just got a telephone balance on my Capital one CC and it was £11,524.36 in credit.
Now all of you on here know how skint I am so this is not my money. I phoned up and they said it was my money as I had credited it this last week. I'm not going to spend it ( the limit is only £500 anyway) but the dilemma is would you ask for a cheque or ask for the spend limit to be raised??

I would do neither, I would tell them again there has been a mistake and see if they are able to find where it has come from. I certainly wouldnt ask for a cheque as it wouldnt be my money, but neither would I ask for the limit to be raised for the same reason, it wouldnt be my money and there will probably be someone out there whose money it actually is.Weight Loss - 102lb0

if after contacting them , they still claim it is yours.... ask them to refund it to you, then put it in a savings account, until they ask for it back.....smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

You have already decided that your going to spend/keep it. Your dilemma seems to be how your going get at the cash rather than anything to do with moral judgement.0

You said you are not going to spend it so why would you ask for a cheque? Either way if you take it you will then be in more debt because they will realise at some point and demand it back which I presume would add more stress to your debt situation?
I would own up to such a big amount.
Good luck0 -
I did phone them and apparently it is an ongoing situation which should be cleared up in 48 hours. The woman on the phone said that someone had paid off their card but it has appeared on 4 different peoples card to date but not the one of the person who has paid the money. It's nice to see the honesty on the board because I asked 5 people at my wifes works who are all in good finances and all said they would spend it.
I guess the moral is that when you are like us you value more than money such as sleep and integrity...0 -
For me its not much to do with morals and more to do with the fact that they would notice further down the line. Even if a year or two went buy and the money was long spent they could still reclaim it.0
