Sure, at the start it wont matter if you have a degree or not although if you want to teach or be in managemet position later on it may help
 A few facts here
Whether or no you do the degree or diploma, you will start in the grade. if you do not sign up to take your degree, you will not be able to progress up the management tree, but frankly, you have about 5 years before that starts to impact.
When you qualify, you will HAVE to do some sort of specilist study, say in Accident and Emergency Nursing or Practice Nursing. The NHS pays you to do this study at a local university (through something called the NMET levy) and it can count towards your degree. Obviously if you have already done a degree, you get no academic benefit from the specialist study, just practical skills. So your do your required specialist course, then add a dissertation on top. You have your degree all done and dusted, within two three year part-time study, paid for by your employer, whilst gettting the specialist skills essential to do your job.
And as for your age, are you over 50? If not, then seriously, age is not an issue in this profession. Some peope do not even qualify until they are in their fifties. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

If you are becoming a student remember to notify council tax. student are generally council tax exempt. assuming there are no other adults in your house except for oh you should be able to claim a discount, as he will effectively be classed as a single person for the purposes of council tax, which normally means a 25% discount0

Hi good luck with the course
degree or diploma you will start on the basic grade. On the premis the minimum you need to be a nurse is a diploma the rest is for your benifit . Unless of course you work for private company (paid lots more) rather than NHS
This may help or not but are you aware that you can apply for a student loan as you are doing a degree and when at uni don't forget to look into the hardship funds offered if you are stuggling.
Student union can help you with this.Mortgage Owed: Sept 14 - £107398.200

What about offering the horse to the IPLH? They would ensure he was well looked after and you could still visit him.
Having said that, you are doing well managing to keep him for £120 per month.
My gas/ electricity is the same as yours for a three bed house and I am constantly struggling to keep it down to that amount.0
