Bankers draft or cash

Hi
I have got a buyer for my car who has offered to pay either with cash or a bankers draft.
From what I've read about bankers drafts they are not completely safe because it may take some time after funds have apparently cleared before a fraudulent bankers draft is spotted. On the other hand would I be able to spot a fake £50 note from a real one?
Since we are talking about several thousands of pounds, what do you think I should do?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Accept cash and go together to the bank to deposit it. He can give you a lift in the car!
Once it is paid in you are home and dry.0 -
its a common thing when buying cars, folk paying using fake BD's. safer with cash, but if u have to ask strangers if u can spot a fake £50 then i suggest Bank Transfer.0

I couldn't, nor could I spot a fake bankers draft.
As already suggested, a bank transfer is safest. But if the buyer is willing to hand over cash they should be willing to pay it into your account at your local branch.
Tell him/her you want cash. When they turn up have a paying in slip already made out and make them pay the cash into your account at your local bank.0 -
Thanks for the replies. We have agreed on cash and I will be putting it straight into the bank as soon as he turns up, before we go any further with the handover.

Just a bit of advice for other users in this situation, on all bank notes there is a pink/ red square on the front of a fifty pound note- other notes have these marks aswell. If you rub the square onto a blank piece of paper the colour will rub off. I used to work in a bank and was told this was the only thing counterfitters strugled to do.0
